Description
The subject provides basic information about the internal and external structure of the earth, geological processes and the formation of minerals. students learn tectonic processes, rock classification, and geological map reading skills. the course teaches how to evaluate the impact of geological phenomena on the efficiency and safety of mining operations.
Course learning outcomes
CLO 1: This subject provides the student with basic knowledge about the earth's structure, composition, geological processes (endogenous and exogenous) and their importance in the mining industry. at the end of the course, the student is able to classify rocks and minerals, read geological maps and interpret tectonic processes. the subject covers the historical development of the earth, the formation of different rock layers and their relationship with the formation of minerals. the student evaluates the impact of geological processes on the safety and efficiency of mining operations. thus, the student acquires geological thinking and basic training necessary for mining engineering.
