Description

The subject provides students with the formation of theoretical knowledge and practical skills on the principles of computer networks and network security. within the scope of the subject, security mechanisms, network threats and vulnerabilities, as well as the principles of building a secure network architecture are studied on the layers of the OSI model. students are introduced to the application of network security technologies such as port security, vlan, acl, nat, routing security, vpn, firewall, ssl/tls and ids/ips. also reviewed are authentication and access control mechanisms such as radius, tacacs+, kerberos, sso, and ldap, network traffic monitoring, sniffing, auditing, and logging processes. modern security technologies such as next-generation firewalls, siem, soar, and UEBA and their role in the network environment are explored. the subject is aimed at forming students' skills to identify network threats, configure security mechanisms and apply appropriate technologies for network protection.

Course learning outcomes

  1. CLO 1: Must be able to manage authentication, identification, and policy-compliant access to the network.

  2. CLO 2: Must be able to perform network auditing and logging.

  3. CLO 3: Must know protocols and connection types related to network security, methods of connecting lot equipment to the internet or other networks.

  4. CLO 4: When networks are integrated or connected to other networks, the DMZ must be able to set up and configure zones.

  5. CLO 5: Must have basic knowledge of next generation firewalls.

  6. CLO 6: He should be aware of known attacks that can be carried out against networks and know how to prevent them or eliminate the consequences in a short time.
