Description
The course “Probability Theory” introduces the fundamental concepts, methods, and mathematical models of probability theory used for analyzing random phenomena and stochastic processes. The course covers random events, operations on events, classical, geometric, and statistical definitions of probability, conditional probability, and independence of events. The laws of addition and multiplication of probabilities, the law of total probability, and Bayes’ theorem are also studied. The course further examines random variables, probability distributions, distribution functions, mathematical expectation, variance, and other numerical characteristics, as well as fundamental discrete and continuous probability distributions. Particular attention is given to the application of probabilistic methods to modeling, data analysis, risk assessment, and the solution of practical problems in computer science, engineering, and information technology.
