Description

This course provides students with fundamental knowledge and practical skills in securing computer networks against various cyber threats and attacks. It covers network security principles, common vulnerabilities, network protocols, firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, secure network architecture, access control, encryption, authentication, and security monitoring. Students will also study common network attacks such as denial-of-service (DoS), man-in-the-middle, spoofing, and network scanning, as well as methods for detecting, preventing, and mitigating these threats. Practical exercises and laboratory activities will help students develop the skills required to analyze network traffic, configure security mechanisms, identify vulnerabilities, and implement effective network protection measures.

Course learning outcomes

  1. CLO 1: Should be able to organize network access in accordance with authentication, identification, and access rules.

  2. CLO 2: Should be able to perform network auditing and logging.

  3. CLO 3: Should be able to perform network auditing and logging.

  4. CLO 4: Should be able to establish and configure DMZ zones when integrating or connecting networks with other networks.

  5. CLO 5: Should possess fundamental knowledge of next-generation firewalls

  6. CLO 6: Should be aware of known attacks that can be carried out against networks and know methods for preventing them or quickly mitigating their effects.
